Iranian academic says Azerbaijan’s support for Israel and the U.S. could lead to regime change

If Azerbaijan continues to assist the “Israeli regime” against Iran alongside the United States, this “regime will not last long,” said Seyed Mohammad Marandi, professor at the University of Tehran and former adviser on nuclear negotiations, in an interview with Norwegian political commentator Glenn Diesen on his YouTube channel.

“Iran will not tolerate this. Iran has many supporters in Azerbaijan. All their leaders are in jail, and they have been in jail for years now. But if they push, they will destroy the regime, and a new government that is friendly to Iran will come to power very swiftly. It will take just a few days at most. Azerbaijan started making a lot of threats. Aliyev, the regime's leader, started making some statements, and then he spoke. I guess he got the message from Iran: ‘Watch out, we’re not in the mood.’ So he has changed too,” Marandi said.
