Iranian expert: Azerbaijan expected Tehran to weaken

“An overview of Baku’s media coverage shows that, as during the 12-day war, outlets welcomed developments in Iran (the recent unrest) and portrayed the situation as more critical than it actually was,” said Iranian expert Ehsan Movahedian, who is known for anti-Azerbaijani and anti-Israeli views.

He added that “Azerbaijan expected Iran’s weakening would lead to the establishment of federalism in the country, enabling Baku to advance its separatist agenda.”
