Delegation from the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations to visit Azerbaijan

A delegation from the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations — widely regarded as one of the most influential Jewish advocacy forums in the United States — is scheduled to arrive in Azerbaijan on an official visit starting February 9, 2026.

The delegation will be led by Malcolm Hoenlein, Executive Vice Chairman Emeritus of the Conference, a longtime prominent figure in U.S. Jewish leadership known for his extensive diplomatic engagements. The primary purpose of the visit is to personally express deep appreciation to Azerbaijani leadership for their consistent and unwavering support of the country's Jewish community, which has long enjoyed peaceful coexistence and state-level protection in this Muslim-majority nation.

The group will also highlight and thank Azerbaijan for the strong, genuine friendship between Baku and Jerusalem, reflecting the deepening strategic, economic, and cultural ties between the two countries in recent years.

The Conference of Presidents unites leaders from over 50 major American Jewish organizations, serving as a central platform where diverse segments of the community come together in mutual respect. It works both publicly and behind the scenes to:

▪ Advance the interests of the American Jewish community,

▪ Sustain broad-based bipartisan support for Israel,

▪ Address critical concerns facing world Jewry by engaging directly with U.S. and global leaders, key opinion influencers, and the public.

As the preeminent forum for Jewish communal deliberation, the Conference sets policy priorities, develops proactive strategies, and coordinates collective action on vital national and international issues.

This visit underscores Azerbaijan's reputation as a model of interfaith tolerance and its valued role as a reliable partner to Israel and the global Jewish community.
