Iranian embassy condemns Israeli FM’s statements made during Baku visit

The press service of the Iranian Embassy in Azerbaijan condemned remarks made by Israel’s foreign minister during his visit to Baku.

The embassy expressed regret that a representative of what it described as an “illegal and criminal regime” had been given a platform to “level baseless accusations” against the Islamic Republic. It emphasized the deep, historical, and unbreakable ties between the peoples of Iran and Azerbaijan, and called for vigilance against the “provocative and interventionist actions of the Zionist regime aimed at undermining” bilateral relations and destabilizing the region.

On January 26, Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar, speaking at a joint press conference in Baku with Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov, said that images of the mass killing of Iranian citizens are being circulated. “The current regime in Iran is killing its own people. How can one expect them to treat other countries?! It must never be allowed for weapons of mass destruction to be in their hands,” he said.
