JNS: Armenian lobby frames Israel as Armenia’s permanent enemy

"For a small country caught in the tectonic shifts of the Caucasus, the widening gap between Armenia’s elected leadership and the Armenian National Committee of America (ANCA) in Washington is no longer a purely internal dispute. It has become a strategic liability. The cost is strategic, not symbolic. It can distort Western policy signals and complicate Armenia’s relations with partners, including Israel, at precisely the moment Armenia needs more room to maneuver, not less," writes the U.S.-based news agency Jewish News Syndicate (JNS).
"Over the years, ANCA has repeatedly framed Israel not simply as a state with interests in the region, but as a key facilitator of Azerbaijan’s conduct in the Karabakh war, tying Israeli arms ties and energy links to what it describes as atrocities against Armenians and then using that logic to argue that engagement with Israel or with Israel’s partners would be tantamount to rewarding it... By framing Israel as a permanent enemy, the lobby leaves Yerevan with fewer tools to build the partnerships it needs. It also sends confusing signals to policymakers trying to understand what Armenia actually wants," JNS adds.
ANCA, for its part, responded to the article on X: "The ANCA is taking ‘flak’ like this because we're on target - telling the truth about the Netanyahu's government: 1) Denying the Armenian/Christian Genocide; 2) Arming Azerbaijan's anti-Armenian aggression; 3) Enabling Azerbaijan's genocide against Artsakh; 4) Threatening Jerusalem's Armenian Christian Quarter."
