Ultraconservative Ayatollah Ahmad Alamolhoda—the Iranian Supreme Leader’s representative in Razavi Khorasan province, the Friday prayer leader of Mashhad, and the father-in-law of former Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi—made the accusation during a sermon this week. Citing a recently published book, “Scent of Death: Handbook of Mossad's Shattering Operations Inside Iran,” Alamolhoda claimed that Israel was behind Raisi’s “assassination,” according to the opposition TV channel Iran International.
The outlet notes that the book was published without professional editorial oversight and contains numerous errors. It adds that the author has no known background in intelligence, security studies, or investigative journalism, and that the book is largely speculative and not considered a credible source.
Earlier, on August 22, Mohammad Sadr, a member of Iran’s Expediency Council, made similar allegations, blaming Israel for the helicopter crash that killed Raisi in an interview with Seenergy channel, broadcast via the Aparat platform (Iran’s equivalent of YouTube).
