Iranian newspaper: Armenian deputy FM’s visit to Israel at odds with Yerevan’s official stance

The main focus of the talks between Armenia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Vahan Kostanyan and Israeli officials was the “Trump Route, also referred to as the Zangezur Corridor," according to the reformist Iranian daily Shargh.
“Yerevan’s decision to engage in direct consultations with Israel without adequately taking Iran’s concerns into account reflects a reordering of Armenia’s foreign-policy priorities toward closer alignment with the West and the United States. This approach clearly contradicts statements made by Armenia’s deputy speaker of parliament and by the country’s ambassador to Tehran during his meeting with Ali Akbar Velayati (an adviser on international affairs to Iran's Supreme Leader),” Shargh writes.
The newspaper further stresses that Armenia’s efforts to secure Western backing—although of secondary importance for Israel compared with its relationship with Baku—have a direct impact on the security of Iran’s northern borders.
