Advisor to Iran’s Supreme Leader: Trump’s project is “no different” from the Zangezur corridor

Ali Akbar Velayati, an advisor to Iran’s Supreme Leader, met with Armenia’s ambassador to Tehran, Grigor Hakobyan, according to Iran’s Tasnim news agency, which is affiliated with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).

Referring to Trump’s proposed plan (route), Velayati said the project is “no different” from the Zangezur Corridor, which Iran has strongly opposed.

He added that “experience shows the United States often enters sensitive regions under the cover of economic initiatives, but over time such involvement tends to evolve into a military and security presence.”
