“Jerusalem is following with concern what appears to be an escalation in a delegitimization campaign being waged by elements in the Armenian community against Israel, and all of this is related to a real estate dispute in Jerusalem… In EVN Report—a highly regarded Armenian magazine—there was a very harsh article accusing Israel of ‘systematic repression’ of Christians, arguing that the massacre is the opening shot of a well-planned move against Israel,” the ultra-Orthodox news website Kikar reported.
“According to assessments by political sources, the timing was carefully chosen to create a ‘political attack.’ This was an attempt to exploit the Christmas period, when international sensitivity to the situation of Christians in Jerusalem is at its peak, coinciding with the inauguration of the new American ambassador, Mike Huckabee,” emphasized the Kol Barama radio station, considered an unofficial mouthpiece of the ultra-Orthodox Shas party.
Meanwhile, the newspaper Maariv added: “It is difficult to separate the current attack from the broader geopolitical context. Against the backdrop of the strategic alliance between Israel and Azerbaijan, Armenia’s rival, it appears that elements within the Armenian diaspora are trying to leverage local tensions to damage Israel’s image in the international arena. In Jerusalem, the claims are rejected outright, emphasizing that freedom of worship and property rights are preserved for all communities in the city without distinction.”
