Iranian expert says Israel attacked Iran from Azerbaijani territory without informing Baku

Hassan Beheshtipour, an expert on international politics, argues that during the 12-day war Israel “used” Azerbaijani territory to carry out attacks on Iran without informing Baku, similar to how Iraqi airspace was used for strikes on Iran without notifying the Iraqi government.

According to him, “in any case, this issue is highly controversial in bilateral relations.”

The remarks were published by Khabar Online, a conservative Iranian news outlet considered close to Ali Larijani, an adviser to Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, and secretary of the Supreme National Security Council.
