Israeli media highlight visits of Azerbaijani delegations to Jerusalem and Washington

"Azerbaijan’s Economy Minister Mikayil Jabbarov arrived in Israel on Thursday for a working visit and held meetings with senior ministers in Jerusalem. The visit comes amid a trend of rapprochement between Israel and Baku and underscores the two countries’ desire to expand their economic and political cooperation," the newspaper Maariv reported.

The ultra-Orthodox outlet Kikar noted: “Jabbarov’s visit comes at a time when relations between the countries are expanding in the areas of economy, energy and tourism. It is seen as part of an effort to deepen cooperation between the governments of Israel and Azerbaijan and to develop new projects of regional importance.”

According to the website of the Israeli media group Israel National News – Arutz Sheva, “Jabbarov also met with Energy Minister Eli Cohen to discuss expanding cooperation in the energy sector. Azerbaijan is considered a key oil supplier to Israel and strengthened its presence in 2025 when the national energy company SOCAR acquired a 10% stake in the Tamar gas field.”

"Israel–Azerbaijan relations are also gaining interest in Washington. During the Trump administration, there was encouragement for a peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia after Baku regained control over territories that had previously been occupied. Stable relations between Jerusalem and Baku were presented in Washington as a positive sign of the reliability of the partnership with Azerbaijan,” emphasized the Kol-Barama radio station, considered an unofficial mouthpiece of the ultra-Orthodox Shas party.

"Meanwhile, a delegation of Azerbaijani parliament members is currently visiting the United States, joined by Baku’s Sephardi Chief Rabbi, Zamir Isayev. In meetings with members of Congress, Isayev has emphasized the importance of the absence of antisemitism in Azerbaijan, a Muslim-majority country," The Jerusalem Post reported.

Walla, one of the country’s leading news portals, also noted on its website that “in recent days, a series of political and community meetings was held in the United States by an Azerbaijani parliamentary delegation that includes Baku’s Sephardi Chief Rabbi, Zamir Isayev. As part of the visit, members of the delegation participated in meetings with lawmakers in Congress, senior officials in the U.S. administration, and Jewish organizations operating in Washington.”
