Turkey’s anti-Zionist party leader urges Azerbaijani president to cancel the European Rabbis Conference in Baku

Doğu Perinçek, leader of Turkey’s Patriotic (Vatan) Party—known for its anti-Western and anti-Zionist stance—posted on X a letter to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev calling for the cancellation of the European Rabbis Conference in Baku.

The letter reads:

Dear Mr. President,

We have learned from media reports that the European Rabbis Conference is scheduled to take place in Baku on November 3–6, 2025.

It is further reported that the gathering—bringing together hundreds of rabbis—will address the Abraham Accords and activities against Zionism.

Holding such a conference—never before hosted in any Muslim or Turkic country—in our capital, Baku, would aggravate threats directed at our countries and neighbors in West Asia and the Caucasus. It would also harm our unity—within the Turkic and Islamic worlds and, more broadly, humanity as a whole.

Under your seasoned leadership, it is inconceivable that Azerbaijan would align itself with a U.S.–Israel axis. Allowing this conference to proceed in brotherly Azerbaijan would be remembered as a stain in the future.

For the sake of our countries’ independence, security, and future, and in keeping with their leading role within the Rising Asian Civilization, we request that this conference be canceled.

Respectfully,

Doğu Perinçek

Chairman of the Vatan Party
