"On October 18, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev received Brad Cooper, Commander of the US Central Command* and admiral of the US Navy... During the conversation, they hailed the recent development of Azerbaijan-US bilateral relations, and exchanged views on the prospects for cooperation in military and military-technical fields," Azerbaijan State News Agency (AZERTAC) reported.
AZERTAC also said that, on the same day, Cooper met with Azerbaijan’s Minister of Defense, Zakir Hasanov, and that "the sides discussed new prospects for military cooperation between Azerbaijan and the United States."
It is worth noting that, on October 15, Politico wrote: "Indonesia, Azerbaijan and Pakistan are the top contenders to supply troops for a future stabilization force in the Gaza Strip... The former defense official said that coordinating with Indonesia and Azerbaijan adds a layer of complexity to the stabilization effort because they are not in CENTCOM’s area of responsibility."
*The US Central Command (USCENTCOM or CENTCOM) is one of the eleven unified combatant commands of the US Department of War. Its area of responsibility covers the Middle East, Central Asia, and parts of South Asia.
