Azerbaijan’s chief cleric met with prominent rabbi in New York

As part of his visit to the United States, Sheikhulislam Allahshukur Pashazade, Chairman of the Caucasus Muslims’ Board (CMB), met with Rabbi Arthur Schneier, one of the most influential Jewish religious figures in the United States and the world, at the New York Park East Synagogue complex.

At the outset of the meeting, Sheikhulislam Pashazade conveyed greetings from Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev and First Vice President Mehriban Aliyeva to Rabbi Schneier. The discussion—reflecting nearly half a century of friendship and cooperation between the two leaders—centered on interreligious dialogue in the modern era.

Rabbi Schneier praised Azerbaijan’s multicultural, tolerant environment and fondly recalled his longstanding collaboration with Sheikhulislam Pashazade, as well as his meetings with Heydar Aliyev, the National Leader of the Azerbaijani people.
