Al Jazeera: After the attack on Azerbaijan’s embassy in Tehran, Israel conducted a drone strike against Iran

According to Al Jazeera, Iran is accused of attempting to destabilize Azerbaijan and of pressuring President Ilham Aliyev’s administration as Israeli intelligence expands its activities in the country—assistance that helped Baku secure victory over Yerevan in 2020.

Al Jazeera notes that on 27 January 2023, Azerbaijan’s embassy in Tehran was attacked—an incident Baku informally linked to Iran. The next day, a drone strike—allegedly by Israel—hit Iranian territory.

The outlet states that on 1 February Azerbaijan and Israel held talks on military cooperation, strengthening their alignment against Iran. On 10 March 2023, President Aliyev met in Baku with Israel’s intelligence minister, underscoring the closeness of bilateral ties.
