Emirati think tank: Resistance from Iran could complicate or delay the finalization of the Trump Route

"Iran’s opposition to an expanded American presence in the South Caucasus also remains a major obstacle. Resistance from Tehran is likely to complicate or delay the finalization of the project (The Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity or TRIPP). Another variable is Donald Trump himself, after whom the corridor is named. Armenia and Azerbaijan have a three-and-a-half-year window, corresponding with the remainder of his presidential term. Should the project fail to advance within this period, a change in administration – particularly a Democratic one – could lead to Washington’s disengagement, leaving the TRIPP framework politically vulnerable and potentially incomplete," writes the Emirates Policy Center, an Abu Dhabi-based think tank.
