Amid Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian’s visit to Azerbaijan, air defense forces in Iran’s Zanjan Province revealed an "Israeli Orbiter 4 reconnaissance drone" that had been intercepted in Iranian airspace, according to the Iranian Telegram channel QODS_COM, which is affiliated with the Quds Force, a special unit of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
With an operational range of 150–200 kilometers, the drone may have been launched from Azerbaijani territory near Astara, according to the channel. It further asserts that similar drones were used by Baku during the war with Armenia and are allegedly produced in Azerbaijan with Israeli support.
QODS_COM argues that a launch from Iraqi Kurdistan is “unlikely,” noting that military cooperation between “Baku and Tel Aviv is significantly deeper than with Erbil.” It further claims that “Israel maintains air and intelligence bases in Azerbaijan and can carry out operations against Iran from there with ease and security.”
