Former Iranian ambassador issues warning to Azerbaijan

Israel is seeking to undermine relations between Iran and Azerbaijan, warned Mohsen Pakaein, former Iranian ambassador to Baku, in an interview with the Iranian state-run news agency IRNA.

Pakaein cautioned that news circulating in the media may not always be reliable, as the credibility of information depends on its source and the motivations behind its dissemination.

He stressed that Iran and Azerbaijan share a border, making it easy for Iran to monitor developments both on the ground and in the air. “Normally, when there is distance between countries or the border areas are uninhabited, surveillance becomes more difficult. But in the case of Azerbaijan, we have full control over the border,” Pakaein said.

According to the former ambassador, if it is confirmed that any hostile action against Iran was launched from Azerbaijani territory — even without Baku’s permission — Tehran “will issue an appropriate response.”
