Former Iranian ambassador to Baku: Israel launched attacks from Azerbaijani territory without informing Baku

The movement of Israeli drones toward Iran from Azerbaijani territory has a backstory, said Mohsen Pakayin, former Iranian ambassador to Baku, during a broadcast on Iranian state television.
“During the Karabakh war, these drones moved under the pretext of monitoring the situation in Armenia, but on their return route, they entered Iranian airspace—something we were aware of. On one occasion, to demonstrate our awareness, we shot one of them down,” he noted.
“The second point is that after we raised this issue with the Azerbaijani authorities, everything became clear. That is to say, as they themselves stated—and we can confirm—the Zionist regime carried out these actions without Azerbaijan’s permission or coordination. It had infiltrated Azerbaijan’s aerospace and intelligence services without informing the country’s top officials and used this access to violate Iran’s airspace,” Pakayin added.
“At the same time, Iranian delegations traveled to Azerbaijan, held talks with its senior officials, and presented evidence of this fact,” the former ambassador emphasized.
