“I advise Ilham Aliyev to stop participating in the crimes of the Israeli regime against the people of Iran,” said Rahim No’i Aghdam, commander of the Resistance Front in Syria, during a ceremony in Ardabil (as reported by the Iranian news agency Shabestan).
“We consider the Azerbaijani people as our own,” he continued. “We have so far tolerated Ilham Aliyev’s actions in providing a base for Israel on Azerbaijani territory, but our patience is not unlimited.”
Aghdam warned that the government and people of Azerbaijan must not be complicit in Israel’s crimes “against the people of Gaza, Lebanon, Yemen, and Iran” and should take a clear stance on the issue.
He also claimed that the flight paths of Israeli drones suggest that operations “against the Iranian people were launched from Azerbaijani territory,” adding, “We will continue to monitor the situation and present evidence when necessary.”
The Islamic Resistance Front in Syria is a pro-Iranian militant group formed after the fall of Bashar al-Assad’s regime in 2024.
