Azerbaijan has come under suspicion of collaborating with Israel during the recent attack on Iran, according to the reformist Iranian newspaper Ham-Mihan.
The suspicions stem from "Azerbaijan’s close ties with Israel in the areas of security, military cooperation, and strategic energy partnership."
“Azerbaijan’s name has previously appeared in connection with several Israeli operations targeting Iran, but this time, suspicions of Baku’s involvement are being taken far more seriously. This is largely due to a recent phone call between Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, during which the possibility of such coordination was directly discussed — bringing even more attention to the issue,” Ham-Mihan writes.
According to the newspaper, two main scenarios of Azerbaijan’s potential involvement are currently being considered: "the launching of drones from Azerbaijani territory and the use of Azerbaijani airspace by Israeli fighter jets to access Tehran and Karaj."
