Iranian expert: Radars detected Israeli drones launching from Azerbaijani territory

Iran’s military and intelligence services “possess documents” that clearly indicate the drones entered Iranian airspace from one of its neighboring countries, based on their flight paths and distances traveled. This was stated by Mehdi Seif Tabrizi, an Iranian expert on the Caucasus, in an interview with the state-run newspaper Farhikhtegan.
Tabrizi noted that while “there are other countries to the east of the Caspian Sea that host Israeli military bases, they lack the airstrips necessary for launching fighter jets or drones.”
“We already had evidence that one or two old Soviet-era airfields in southern Azerbaijan have been leased to the Zionist regime for 99 years. During previous attacks on the Natanz region and other operations, Iran’s radar systems clearly detected that these aircraft entered Iranian airspace from Azerbaijani territory,” the expert stated.
He added: “Considering all the evidence, it can be said that many of the attacks were launched from countries neighboring Iran, particularly from the north. The types of drones that were intercepted, their range, and the areas they patrolled make it highly unlikely that they were launched directly from Israel. They had to be deployed from a location closer to Iran. Based on these facts, one country with such capabilities and willing to provide operational support to the Zionist regime is Azerbaijan. This country has a long history of extensive military and intelligence cooperation with Israel. Many Israeli-made combat drones are currently in service with the Azerbaijani military, and Azerbaijan has undergone the necessary military training to operate them.”
