Head of Azerbaijani Institute: Baku will not intervene in the Iran-Israel conflict

“The idea that Azerbaijan would allow its territory to be used as a launchpad for operations against Iran is unrealistic. Such a scenario contradicts the country’s foreign policy course and its national security interests,” said Ahmad Shahidov, head of the Azerbaijani Institute for Democracy and Human Rights, in response to a question about whether Baku is willing to cooperate with Israel to exert pressure on Iran (the Saudi news channel Asharq).

“Baku will not interfere in a conflict that does not directly concern it. Azerbaijan’s partnership with Israel is based on mutual respect and shared interests, and it is not pursued at the expense of relations with other neighboring countries, including Iran,” Shahidov emphasized.
