Former MEISAI president: Time will tell whether U.S. pressure will influence Azerbaijan’s stance on Iran

“Israel previously succeeded in acting as a mediator to facilitate the delivery of advanced American weaponry to Azerbaijan, in return for services that Azerbaijan provides to Israel—particularly in the energy sector,” said Israeli historian and analyst Mahmoud Yazbаk, former president of the Middle East & Islamic Studies Association of Israel (MEISAI) and the first person of Arab origin to lead the organization (the Saudi news channel Asharq).

“Israel is seeking to draw Azerbaijan into its confrontation (with Iran), but so far, the South Caucasus country has not responded. Only time will tell whether American pressure will influence Azerbaijan’s position,” he added.
