Russian expert: Fake news seeks to provoke tensions between Azerbaijan and Iran

Certain forces in the West, as well as actors closer to the region, are once again attempting to escalate tensions between Iran and Azerbaijan, said Russian expert Vitaly Arkov in an interview with the Azerbaijani news outlet Axar.

“Claims have been made about an alleged secret agreement between Baku and Tel Aviv, according to which, in the event of the fall of the mullah regime, Iran’s territorial integrity would collapse, and Baku would take control of regions known as ‘Southern Azerbaijan.’ Even the official statement by Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov—affirming that Azerbaijan will not allow its airspace or territory to be used against neighboring and friendly Iran—has failed to stop the spread of these falsehoods,” Arkov emphasized.
