IRGC-Affiliated Media Suggests Attack on Baku–Tbilisi–Ceyhan Oil Pipeline

According to the Iranian news agency SNN—a media outlet affiliated with the Basij paramilitary organization, a branch of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC)—Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan provide a significant portion of Israel’s oil supplies, and the pipelines used for this purpose are considered strategically important to the Jewish state.

The news agency emphasizes that “an attack on these pipelines could serve as a deterrent or as retaliation for the crimes committed by this regime, with the goal of disrupting its energy supply chain.”

“The Baku–Tbilisi–Ceyhan pipeline is a major export route transporting oil from Azerbaijan to the Mediterranean. It begins in Baku, passes through Tbilisi in Georgia, and terminates at the port of Ceyhan in southern Turkey, where oil is transferred to tankers for further shipment,” SNN adds.

The Basij is a volunteer paramilitary organization tasked with enforcing legal and religious norms. It operates under the IRGC and was established on the initiative of Ayatollah Khomeini, the founder of the Islamic Republic.
