IRGC media mouthpiece: Azerbaijan’s border opening with Iran is a secret plan to bolster Mossad operations in the Islamic Republic

The sudden reopening of the Astara border crossing (located in southern Azerbaijan along the Iranian border) after five years of closure has raised suspicions of “covert coordination between Baku and Israel against Iran’s security interests,” according to the news agency Fars, which is affiliated with Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
“The decision to reopen the crossing came immediately after Iran’s strike on Israeli targets and subsequent threats from Israel. Given the close military and intelligence ties between Baku and Tel Aviv... this may signal logistical support for ‘Mossad’s’ network inside Iran,” Fars emphasizes.
“The strategic location of Astara (close to northern Iran and sensitive regions) and its relatively low surveillance compared to airports make it an ideal route for the evacuation of agents at risk of exposure,” the news agency adds.
