Armenian Turkologist Varuzhan Geghamyan has warned of possible regional escalation following Israeli airstrikes on Iran.

“If these strikes continue and escalate into a full-blown war, the next most likely pressure point against Iran will be Syunik. Azerbaijan — Israel’s de facto ally, which has been heavily supplied with weapons and ammunition by Israel in recent months — is expected to take action. Notably, the Turkish Armed Forces are currently in Nakhchivan under the guise of military exercises and will remain there at least until the end of June, thereby applying pressure from the western side of Syunik,” Geghamyan wrote on his Facebook page.

“This is one of the most likely scenarios for how events could unfold. Armenia is sitting on a powder keg,” Geghamyan added.
