Iranian media renew criticism of Azerbaijan: an old article gains new attention

Iranian media have resumed criticism of Azerbaijan, reviving an earlier article by Ahmad Kazemi, an Iranian expert on the Caucasus and Eurasia. Originally published on February 13, the article was partially republished on May 31 by the Telegram channel of the Iranian website Azeriha.

According to Kazemi, "The Zionist regime and Turkey now view Azerbaijan as part of their territorial assets. Since 2020, having effectively leased the country's sovereignty, they have issued an extensive list of demands to Baku—including actions against Iran."

He further warns: "It is clear that the continued transformation of Baku into a regional base for Zionism, along with its shift into something resembling a Turkish province, could turn Azerbaijan into one of the arenas of geopolitical confrontation in the region. Any provocative attempt by Baku to implement the so-called ‘fake Zangezur Corridor’ could ignite such tensions."
