Iranian political analyst: Azerbaijan and Turkey could seize the opportunity if Iran is weakened

In an interview with the Armenian news outlet Aysor.am, Pouya Hosseini, Iranian political analyst and founder of the Armenia-Iran Cooperation Development Fund, warned that a potential conflict between Iran and Israel could have serious repercussions for the wider region.

"If a conflict is provoked between Iran and Israel, the risk of war in the region will increase. In other words, if Iran is weakened, Azerbaijan will try to take advantage of the situation in coordination with Turkey. We have already witnessed a similar scenario in Syria, when Iran’s resistance forces were engaged in a war with Israel, and Turkey seized the opportunity to create problems in Syria by undermining the Assad regime—essentially delivering a blow to Iran from behind. Iran has similar concerns about the South Caucasus. If it shows weakness, others may seize the opportunity," Hosseini noted.
