Pro-Kurdish Turkish MP criticizes Azerbaijani President over ties with Israel

"Yet another shameful photo. The Azerbaijani Minister of Defense visited Israel and shook hands with the Israeli Defense Minister. I spoke about this even while I was in Azerbaijan," said Ömer Faruk Gergerlioğlu, a member of the Turkish Parliament from the pro-Kurdish Peoples' Equality and Democracy Party (X account of the opposition news outlet Dokuz8).

"You enter into all sorts of partnerships with Israel, call it a 'friend,' and then say 'two states – one nation' (referring to Azerbaijan and Turkey)... How can you call Israel a friend and sign arms deals with it? Azerbaijan gave Israel 12 points at Eurovision to glorify it, and we all know those were political points. In Gaza, they (Azerbaijan) are cooperating on natural gas exploration while genocide continues. Have some shame! While infants are dying, is it appropriate to speak of partnerships or shake hands? What answer will you give, Mr. Aliyev, when history and the collective conscience of humanity demand an explanation?" Gergerlioğlu added.
