Tehran sees Iran-Azerbaijan drills as strategic regional presence, says Armenian expert

"Iran is concerned about the presence of terrorists and Israeli forces in Artsakh following the war (of 2020). That’s why conducting military exercises along the border with Azerbaijan — including areas in Artsakh — is important for Tehran. It helps ensure a continued Iranian presence in the region and provides greater awareness of developments on the ground," Iran expert Zhanna Vardanyan told the Alpha News Armenian news network, commenting on the recent joint drills conducted by Azerbaijan and Iran in the Karabakh region of southwestern Azerbaijan.
