Iranian expert: Tehran aims to distance Azerbaijan from Israel

Tehran is seeking to strengthen military cooperation with Baku in an effort to distance Azerbaijan from Israel, particularly in light of the growing partnership between the two countries in defense technology. This was stated by Iranian military expert Hossein Haghian in an interview with the Qatari news outlet Al Jazeera.

“So far, Israel has failed to organize joint military exercises with Azerbaijan, while Iran is striving to become Baku’s primary partner in this field,” Haghian said, commenting on the recent joint drills conducted by Azerbaijan and Iran in the Karabakh region of southwestern Azerbaijan.
