Iranian-American professor: Azerbaijan sees ties with Israel as gateway to the West

Baku has accurately calculated that maintaining good relations with Israel would facilitate deeper engagement with the West. This was stated by Shireen Hunter, an Iranian expert and professor at Georgetown University in the United States, during an interview with the Iranian economic news outlet Eghtesaad 24.

“However, until Iran secures a strong economic and military position and improves its relations with the West, close ties between Tehran and Baku will never be established,” the expert added.
