Azerbaijani ambassador: Baku is ready to mediate between Israel and Turkey

In an interview with the Israeli YouTube news channel Bald Truth, Azerbaijani Ambassador to Israel Mukhtar Mammadov commented on Prime Minister Netanyahu’s upcoming visit to Azerbaijan.

“Every time high-level visits take place, they provide an additional boost to expanding cooperation and identifying new sectors or opportunities,” Mammadov said. “Naturally, we believe that Prime Minister Netanyahu’s upcoming visit to Azerbaijan will give a strong boost (to the partnership between Azerbaijan and Israel), and help us look ahead at how to further advance and deepen our cooperation.”

The ambassador also addressed Azerbaijan’s potential role as a mediator between Israel and Turkey amid tensions in Syria. “Wherever possible, we are ready to offer assistance to our friends across various sectors… If the parties are open to Azerbaijan assuming a mediating role, then why not?” he said.
