Turkey allows The Wing of Zion to fly over its airspace

The Israeli prime minister will fly to Azerbaijan on the evening of May 7 on a government plane called «Kanaf Zion» (The Wing of Zion). This means that Turkey has allowed the aircraft to pass through its airspace. Previously, in November 2024, Turkey effectively blocked Israeli President Isaac Herzog’s participation in the COP29 summit in Baku by denying permission for his aircraft.

This represents a small but symbolic success of the Azerbaijani mediation between Israel and Turkey, aimed at reducing the escalation between them.
