Iranian media: Pezeshkian’s visit to Baku could weaken Israel’s influence in Azerbaijan

"Deepening Azerbaijan’s economic ties with Iran could enhance Tehran’s influence over Baku’s political decisions and limit the role of hostile actors such as Israel," writes Shargh, an Iranian newspaper affiliated with the reformist movement.

"Pezeshkian’s visit to Baku may mark an effort by Iran to redefine its role in the South Caucasus and diminish the influence of external powers — particularly Israel, which has strengthened its position in Baku by purchasing 90,000 barrels of oil per day," the newspaper adds.
