Iranian state media: Azerbaijan should not shape its security strategy based on Israel’s interests

"The Republic of Azerbaijan must shape its security strategies based on its own national interests, rather than its relations with other players, including the Zionist regime," wrote Mahmoud Shouri, an Iranian expert on Asia, in the government-affiliated newspaper Iran, amid Pezeshkian’s visit to Baku.

"Iran has consistently voiced concerns about the possible use of Azerbaijani territory as a platform for hostile actions against it. These concerns persist amid the relative cooling of Iran-Azerbaijan relations in recent years — a situation that Iran’s adversaries have exploited to expand their influence and interference. Should these differences be resolved, Iran hopes that Azerbaijan will take its security concerns into consideration and prevent any threatening activities from taking place on its soil," Shouri added.
