Vahe Davtyan, President of Armenia’s Institute for Energy Security, has voiced concerns over the emerging U.S.–Israel–Azerbaijan trilateral cooperation format.

In a post on his Facebook page, Davtyan wrote: “The Hudson Institute (USA) has announced the formation of a U.S.–Israel–Azerbaijan trilateral cooperation format... This information allows for several preliminary conclusions:

1. The creation of this trilateral format makes a U.S.–Iran agreement impossible — signs of which are already becoming apparent.

2. This initiative may be contributing to the sharp decline in U.S.–Russia dialogue and the emergence of certain negative trends.

3. In the near future, we are likely to witness a clearer division of spheres of influence in the South Caucasus — a process with considerable escalation potential.”
