“Azerbaijan is a tolerant country that grants religious freedom and cultural autonomy to all communities residing there. A prime example is Azerbaijan’s Jewish community, which faces no oppression from the Azerbaijani government (which, like Iran, is a Shiite-majority country) and encounters no restrictions. In Azerbaijan, Jews freely practice religious rituals, wear kippahs publicly, and study Hebrew without any difficulty,” states the website of GünAz TV, a channel representing ethnic Azerbaijanis in Iran (Southern Azerbaijan).
