"The Republic of Armenia will not be involved in any action against the Islamic Republic of Iran… Iran's stability is extremely important to us, Iran's development is extremely important to us, and Iran's security is extremely important to us, and I don't even think there is a need to say why, because it is so obvious."  This was Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s response to a journalist from Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) when asked: "If any threat is made against the Islamic Republic of Iran by Western countries, what will be your actions in that case?"

A policy paper by BESA think tank, which highlights Azerbaijan’s special role as a pillar of Israel’s regional security architecture, cited the Israeli newspaper Globes, noting: "During the war between Azerbaijan and Armenia, Israel sided with Azerbaijan, while Iran supported Armenia."
