Armenia continues to favor the Democrats

While Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu publicly promotes a trilateral partnership with Azerbaijan and the US Republican administration, Armenia’s Foreign Ministry continues to favor the Democrats. Yesterday, Armenian Ambassador to Washington Lilit Makunts discussed bilateral relations with prominent Democratic Congressman Brad Sherman.

It is clear that, like many Democratic Party supporters, Yerevan’s ruling circles and the pro-Armenian lobby in the U.S.—which has traditionally leaned toward the Democrats—are banking on Trump’s impeachment and the return of his opponents to power. Just six days before the new president took office in the White House, Armenia signed a strategic partnership agreement with the Joe Biden administration.
