Azerbaijani and UAE diplomats discussed the situation in Syria

The temporary Chargé d'Affaires of the Azerbaijani Embassy in Syria discussed the situation in the country with the UAE ambassador in Damascus, stated the Azerbaijani news agency Report on March 5.

A day earlier, the foreign ministers of Azerbaijan and the UAE held a phone call to address regional security issues and developments in the Middle East.

On March 5, Israeli newspaper Haaretz noted: "Amid escalating tensions between Israel and Turkey over the situation in Syria in the past two weeks, Azerbaijan has been actively mediating, striving to prevent a confrontation between its two strategic partners."
