US and Turkish Presidential Advisors Spoke Amid Aliyev–Erdogan Meeting and Regional Diplomacy

On March 5, the day of Aliyev’s meeting with Erdogan in Ankara, the senior advisor to the Turkish president on foreign policy and security discussed global and regional issues over the phone with his US counterpart.

On March 3, the newspaper Israel Hayom stated that amid tensions between Turkey and Israel over the situation in Syria, the Israeli leadership is utilizing two secret communication channels with Ankara: one through the U.S. administration and the other via Azerbaijan.

A policy paper by the BESA think tank, focusing on Azerbaijan’s special role as one of the pillars of Israel’s regional security architecture, emphasized: "Azerbaijan works to normalize Turkey-Israel relations and mediates during crises between them."
