Government Response to Knesset member Simon Moshiashvili’s speech. Delivered by Minister of Jewish Settlements and National Missions Orit Strock (Main Hall of Parliament, 05.03.25): "The ties between Israel and Azerbaijan are built on a partnership rooted in shared interests and a long-standing friendship. Azerbaijan is a key strategic ally of Israel in the Caucasus region. Relations between our countries encompass cooperation in various fields, including security, trade, technology, energy, and agriculture. Over the years, our ties have strengthened, based on a mutual understanding of the importance of regional stability and collaboration for the benefit of both nations. Azerbaijan is a moderate Muslim country that fosters warm relations with Israel and actively combats antisemitism. The Jewish community in Baku is thriving, a testament to Azerbaijan’s dedication to religious tolerance and peaceful coexistence (between Muslims and Jews). We deeply appreciate and value this commitment. Israel maintains an ongoing dialogue with Azerbaijan on a wide range of topics, including security and diplomatic consultations. This dialogue is also reflected in high-level bilateral visits, such as the visit of Israel’s President to Azerbaijan and the visit of Azerbaijan’s National Security Advisor to Israel. In parallel, Israel maintains a continuous dialogue with the United States on these matters, with the aim of deepening regional cooperation and establishing a strong foundation for trilateral collaboration between Israel, Azerbaijan, and the United States. These ties align with Israel’s broader policy of strengthening alliances in the region and building relationships with additional Muslim nations. The negative reaction from media outlets associated with the Iranian regime is unsurprising, but it does not alter our commitment to deepening our partnerships with our allies. Israel will continue to strengthen cooperation with Azerbaijan and the United States and will stand firm against any attempts to disrupt this partnership!"
