The acquisition of a 10% stake in Israel’s Tamar gas field by Azerbaijan’s state-owned oil company SOCAR is a clear sign that Israel is becoming increasingly attractive to global energy giants. Amir Foster, Executive Director at The Israeli Natural Gas Trade Association and the Chair of the Strategy Committee at International Gas Union (IGU), stated this in a podcast by the Institute for National Security Studies.

Foster pointed out that SOCAR had finalized the deal even before the formal end of the war between Israel and Hamas. He attributed this to the normalization of Israel’s relations with several Muslim countries over the past five years.
