“Thousands of Jews worldwide gathered in remembrance and prayer to mark the Khojaly massacre, alongside ceremonies held in Israel. The victims of Khojaly and the southern Israeli communities have become symbols of shared pain, strengthening diplomatic ties between Azerbaijan and Israel, reported the website of the Israeli media group Israel National News - Arutz Sheva on February 27.

It was noted that Azerbaijan, unlike any other Muslim country, demonstrated "exceptional solidarity" with Israel, and no pro-Palestinian demonstrations took place in the country. It was also emphasized that Baku “even increased its oil supply to Israel during the recent period, despite pressure from Turkey and Iran.”

A policy paper by the BESA think tank, which provided recommendations to the Trump administration on forming a trilateral alliance between Azerbaijan, Israel, and the U.S., noted“In 2024, during the war with Hamas and Hezbollah, when the IDF had an urgent need for an uninterrupted fuel supply, Azerbaijan increased its oil exports to Israel by 55%.”
