Geopolitical importance of Azerbaijan for the US

“Azerbaijan's geopolitical significance extends far beyond its bilateral relations with Israel. In addition to sharing borders with Iran and Russia, Azerbaijan plays a crucial role as a key energy supplier to Europe, significantly reducing reliance on Russian energy. This strategic importance became particularly evident during the Trump administration’s first term, as it sought to expand the scope of the Abraham Accords,” according to an article published by the Center for Arab Eurasian Studies (CAES) on February 21.

A policy paper by the BESA think tank, focusing on Azerbaijan’s special role as one of the pillars of Israel’s regional security architecture, emphasized: "Azerbaijan is vital to Europe’s energy security, supplying oil and gas to 17 EU countries as a key alternative to Russian supplies."
