Azerbaijan's trade turnover with Iran is less than its arms trade with Israel

The Iranian diaspora news website IranWire reported: “Azerbaijan’s trade with Iran is around $580 million - a figure that is less than its arms trade with Israel, which exceeded $825 million before the Second Karabakh War. A significant portion of these weapons were donated by Israel to Azerbaijan.”

A policy paper by the BESA think tank, focusing on Azerbaijan’s special role as one of the pillars of Israel’s regional security architecture, stated: “Since the late 2000s, Azerbaijan has been a top importer of Israeli military products... These deals generate billions, supporting Israeli jobs, funding new military developments, and contributing to joint Israeli-U.S. projects critical to Israel’s security.”
