Azerbaijan - mediator between Israel and Turkey

Azerbaijan continues to serve as a mediator in relations between Israel and Turkey. In February, Hikmet Hajiyev—head of the Foreign Policy Department at the Presidential Administration of Azerbaijan—visited Jerusalem and then traveled to Ankara as part of this effort, according to the Israeli newspaper Israel Hayom.

A policy paper published in January by the BESA think tank, which highlighted Azerbaijan’s unique role as a pillar of Israel's regional security architecture, stated: "Azerbaijan works to normalize Turkey-Israel relations and mediates during crises between them."
